Explore Eskbank

3 Eskbank Terrace a Victorian 3 storey detached house is just waiting for your family gathering!

Set in the handsome suburb of Eskbank bordering Dalkeith whose name is believed to come from Gaelic ‘valley of the woods’ with only a short drive to reach the A1 leading you to the rolling country side of East Lothian and the scenic Links golf courses in Gullane & North Berwick.

Eskbank steeped in history borders Dalkeith a town which grew slowly as a mainly agricultural settlement. In the late 18th and during the 19th and 20th centuries coal-mining expanded and contributed to the growth of the town. By the 19th century Dalkeith had become the main grain market in Scotland. Dalkeith Country House owned by the Duke of Buccleuch has wonderful parkland to explore. At Newbattle Abbey, you can take a tour of this former Cistercian monastery and discover more about its 900 year history.

Several beautiful golf courses surround Eskbank now including Newbattle Golf Course, Broomieknowe Golf Course and Kings Acre Golf Course. You can cycle along the Penicuik to Dalkeith Walkway (also part of the National Cycle Network Route 196) to visit charming towns such as Bonnyrigg and Rosewell. You could even stop for a delicious picnic in beautiful surroundings, including sites at Roslyn Glen and Rosewell.

The remarkable Rosslyn Chapel an inspiration for the Da Vinci Code sits by the glen & mustn’t be missed!

Eskbank Station links you to the Borders in 30 minutes or within seconds of the house you can jump on the No.3 bus to take you into Edinburgh, it runs every 10 minutes.
Of course you can uber a taxi to take you to the throbbing buzz of Festival life too !
